Mike Lindsey - £3K donated to Shrewsbury Ark
 

A lasting legacy

A 50km ultra-marathon run in memory of Mike Lindsey, who was known locally and died suddenly on 21 November 2017, has led to a very generous £3000 donation to The Shrewsbury Ark. Last year Hungarian writer Eva Cserhati, who lives in Shrewsbury and was a friend of Mike’s, decided to run the South Wales ultra-marathon in his memory. Why items are removed from Shrewsbury’s streets

Local media has recently reported about the Police removing items belonging to rough sleepers in Shrewsbury. This move has been made in partnership with Shropshire Council and Shrewsbury Town Council as part of the Public Space Protection Order that any unattended property, which includes sleeping bags, will be removed and taken to the town centre police station where it will be held for ten days to be collected. After a year off, free music festival The Big Busk is returning to the streets of Shrewsbury to celebrate what would have been the 50th birthday of the man in whose memory the event is held. We’re looking for a Treasurer’s Assistant.

Do you have book-keeping skills and a little time to spare for a very good cause? We are looking for a volunteer to help with book-keeping and accounting for the Shrewsbury Ark and its associated Charity Shop. We envisage that this might take no more than two mornings per week, but that could well increase over time.
