The Ark is extremely proud to be taking part in a ground-breaking Christmas collaboration project to raise awareness and funds for multiple charities across Shropshire this festive period.
Advent for Others takes the core idea of the advent calendar and puts a charitable twist on it. Instead of getting chocolate behind each door there’s a local charity that will receive an equal cut of the money raised from calendar sales.
So, by purchasing and Advent for Others calendar you will be supporting 24 local charities and will find out a bit about one of them each day on the lead up to Christmas
Lizzy Coleman, from Lingen Davies, was inspired to create Advent for Others after seeing an increase in the number of people wanting to support charities over the last 18 months.
“We all saw what happened during Covid and the brilliant support given to the NHS Captain Tom appeal. While we weren’t able to organise events people have chosen to support us in different ways and on behalf of all my colleagues in the charity sector we are so very grateful,” she said.
“The idea for this advent calendar stems from people wanting to support multiple charities. Instead of donating to just one cause, by purchasing this calendar, people can support 24 different causes in the county, and the many hundreds and thousands of people that benefit from their work.
“The charities involved represent the wide diversity of causes that are supported in Shropshire – all of which benefit local people in and around our community. We hope that by working together we can raise the profile of the fabulous charitable work going on in the county,” she added.
